On 2–4 October 2013, the business centre of the Torovo holiday resort in Cherepovets hosted the 1st International Conference "Scientific and Technological Progress in Ferrous Metallurgy", organised by OAO Severstal and Cherepovets State University.
The conference was attended by about 100 representatives of more than 40 Russian and foreign organisations, including metallurgical companies: Severstal North America (USA), Accusteel Ltd. (Israel), Voestalpine Steel Division (Austria), Zaporizhstal (Ukraine), United Metallurgical Company (Russia), Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant (Russia), HATCH (Canada) and others. The results of new developments in ferrous metallurgy over the past 5 years in the fields of theory, technology, equipment, testing and automation were reviewed and discussed.
I.N. Utkin, Deputy Director for Innovation and Technical Development of ULTRAKRAFT JSC, gave a presentation at the conference entitled "Non-Destructive Quality Testing of Plate and Slabs at Temperatures of 850 °C".

On 28–31 May 2013, the town of Zelenogorsk near St. Petersburg hosted the XXI St. Petersburg Conference "Ultrasonic Flaw Detection of Metal Structures" under the motto "From Theory to Practice and Higher Efficiency of Ultrasonic Testing". More than 150 specialists from Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Germany and other countries took part in the conference.
ULTRAKRAFT JSC presented its latest achievements in automated testing of plate for the detection of internal and surface defects by non-contact methods.
