PRINCIPLES OF EMAT
Electromagnetic-acoustic method of the generation of ultrasound is a method for converting of a high-frequency electromagnetic wave of conductor with current into elastic deformations (ultrasound) on the surface of testing object with the frequency multiple or equal to electromagnetic wave.
Electromagnetic-acoustic receiving of ultrasound is based on the inverse effect of converting relative to the EMAT-emitting of ultrasound.
EMAT-technology of emitting and receiving of ultrasound have some advantages, which are impossible for others technologies including Piezo-method. They are following:
providing of safe and reliable testing of objects with dirty surface;
testing of moving objects at high speed without any limitations;
testing of objects with extremal curvature;
testing of objects at cold and extremal cold conditions without any limitations;
testing of heated objects (up to 1200 Celsius degree)
