The conference was attended by representatives of oil and gas companies, research institutes and construction and installation organisations. They were presented with flash butt welding equipment for pipes capable of removing the internal flash to a specified value, and its operation was demonstrated. The machine makes it possible to significantly speed up the laying of trunk and field oil and gas pipelines while eliminating the human factor from the process.
The quality of the weld was checked by a mobile robotic system for ultrasonic testing of pipeline welds in the field. Conference participants were shown the wide range of applications of the system for non-destructive testing of pipeline welds.
After the practical part, conference delegates gave presentations on the development and introduction of flash butt welding and on the non-destructive quality testing of pipe products and of welds made in the field during pipeline laying.
